Why is my electric razor auto-charging w/o the charger?

By admin · Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I moved to the Northwest in May of 2006. It is now September 2006. I have not been able to find my razor’s charger since I moved. Everytime I use my razor (about once a week) it works for about 30 seconds (long enough to trim my goat and stache) and then dies again. I do not recharge it. But the next week when I pick it up again, it has enough charge to do it again. I live alone and I have had no visitors. What is causing the razor to auto-charge on its own? I am looking for a technical reason with cited source. The razor is a Norelco cheapo mustache and Beard Trimmer I got at BestBuy in Orange County, CA. It cost about $25.00.

Batteries store energy as a chemical reaction. When electricity is used from the battery a chemical reaction takes place that produces the electron flow. Charging the battery reverses this process. When a battery is very low in charge, the chemical reaction is very slow. During the week, the reaction will build up a bit of an electric charge which you then drain in your 30 second trim. The chemical reaction can’t occur fast enough to maintain the electron flow. By waiting the week, the reaction catches up a bit. This can’t go on forever. It will eventually stop completely. You need to get a charger or just replace the whole unit.

Sorry, no source other than 40 years in electronics using rechargeable batteries.

Should I trim my 6 year old daughter's hairy legs?

This is the work of Satan. Call an exorcist before your razor sucks your soul into the everlasting fires of hell for all eternity.

your razor is trying to stay alive for you… the power cells in those things are supposed to last a life time, but when there is no charger, it will turn on enugh to get you thru then die, and as it rests, it will conserve energy till next time… if you dont charge it soon you will have to replace the entire thing !!! so in other words, your power cell is dying and is crying for a recharge!!!
